UK Packaging Awards 2017
Design Futures-Packaging win Design Team of the Year award

Sheffield Hallam University's packaging design team, Design Futures-Packaging, are celebrating after winning the Design Team of the Year award at the UK Packaging Awards 2017 - the leading industry awards in the country.

The team won the accolade for the wide range of packaging design project work completed over the last 12 months, including offering support to local SME businesses through the Sheffield Innovation Programme (SIP).

It is the second time in 3 years that Design Futures-Packaging, which is part of Sheffield Hallam's Cultural, Communication and Computing Research Institute (C3RI), has won the Design Team of the Year award, collected on the night by Peter Macqueen.

John Kirkby, Creative Director of Design Futures-Packaging said,

'The UK Packaging Awards are the leading industry awards and it's fabulous to see Sheffield Hallam's name holding its own alongside major industry players.

It is remarkable for a team of our size and based within a university, rather than a traditional design agency.

The submission requires evidence of project work completed over the year and the diverse nature of our output undoubtably sets us apart from the competition. The judges saw evidence of our work supporting local start-ups, growing brands and major established names as well as our testing and research and development work.'
